Afternoon Tea Discussion – Ten Years of G20

St Andrews, Scotland

November 7, 2009

Overview

Ten years after the creation of the G20 we decided to host an afternoon discussion with the G20 Chair UK on the origins of the G20. This conversation also provided us an opportunity to reflect on the organization’s future role in shaping the global financial architecture. Mervyn King, moderated the debate and Governors Subbarao, Jean Claude Trichet, Mark Carney were present to comment on the challenges facing the global financial system in the years ahead and discuss how to make sure that the G20 would stay relevant as a premier forum for international economic cooperation.
